General Dynamics Awarded $18.4 Million Dollar Contract

Defense contractor General Dynamics Network Systems, has been awarded a contract worth $18.4 million to design and install VoIP phone system for the Depart of Defense’s Renovation and Construction program office. According to Daniel Busby, vice president and general manager for Army infrastructure sector at General Dynamics IT, the contract is for the, “design and deployment of a telephony system that is capable of supporting and meeting the subscriber and network demands of the Pentagon user community. This includes all call processing support, multiple classes of service, priority service, required adjunct and back-office components, and continued support for legacy telephony equipment.”

Not that the government migrating to Voip phone systems is anything new, I am just curious as to what type of security and encryption they have to use in order to ensure the privacy and prevent any type of call tapping.
