According to GigaOm’s Stacy Higginbothom, Fonality has secured another another round of financing, led by Draper Fisher Jurvetson Growth Fund with participation from existing investor Intel Capital for $12 million. Fonality had previously raised $15 million from Intel. This brings the total raised for the open source powerhouse to $27 million.

Fonality has been working hard. At their first ever trixbox Live event I was able to see Fonality CEO Chris Lyman demo the upcoming HUD 3 application which really opened my eyes to how powerful there solution is and will continue to be in the coming years. With continued improvements and sales growth of their trixbox appliance not to mentioned the continued acceptance of open source based solutions in the SM, the Fonality investors must be smiling.

It should be interesting to see how much more aggressive the company gets now that they have another influx of cash. Whether the company decides to spend the money on development or further marketing build out remains to be seen, but undoubtedly fun to watch either way.
