Why Did Intel Invest in JAJAH?

Is There An Ulterior Motive?

Moshe Maier has a juicy speculative post on a possible reason that Intel recently invested in JAJAH - protection. It seems that not too long ago, Selex Communications Inc. filed a patent infringement lawsuit against JAJAH. While I am unsure of what the patent infringement case entails, it sure it is interesting that JAJAH got a huge junk of money from Intel…is to pay hefty legal fees, or is it going to be used to develop new technology to serve as a work around for the current suit they have against them?

Moshe seems to think that the investment in JAJAH was a move to protect JAJAH and allow them to leverage Intel’s patent on the softphone, but as I stated before, I think the real reason behind the Intel investment in JAJAH was to continue to broaden its portfolio of dominate VoIP companies and just maybe get them to work together on technological advances that benefits one another’s offerings.

Garret,
We do not disagree, all I said was that this patent suit, brings an additional value to the deal that we did not see before. This incentive alone would not have made a deal.
