VoIP Will Eventually Force Landline Calls to Zero

david pogueAccording to a Government Technology article, New York Times tech columnist David Pogue believes VoIP will continue to be so disruptive that it will eventually lead to free landline calls. Pogue was quoted as stating, “Land line phone calls will be free, because of VoIP such as Vonage, Skype and others.”

Interesting, but wishful thinking? Many of us have long stated that VoIP calls would eventually be free, but free land line calls? I have a hard time believing this. Why? The big telco’s will never let it happen. They will lie, cheat, steal, sue, push legislature, and whatever else they can to prevent that from happening. VoIP calling is quickly falling to zero, but I don’t see land line calls being free anytime soon.
