snom Goes Stylin’, Releases the 820

Far gone are the days of Cisco stylistic dominance in the IP phone space – IP phone manufacturers are stepping up their product design in a big way. From Grandstream, with their new GXP line, to Aastra’s new 5 series, every manufacturer has been placing an eye on aesthetic beauty – and snom has been no exception. Leading off with what I considered the top residential/SOHO/SMB DECT solution on the market, the M3, snom announced today the release of the 820 – a new IP phone that is big on style and substance.

The snom 820 is sleek looking white – an interesting color choice – phone that boasts a large high-resolution TFT color display (3.5”, 320 x 240 pixels) the snom 820 offers a brilliant depiction of call lists, phone directories, and caller information via the integrated XML browser. The snom 820 isn’t all glitz either – the snom 820 features wideband technology for that HDesque call experience. The snom 820 doesn’t fail on the innovation tip either – it boasts 802.11b/g wireless support – meaning you don’t have to run cables to the remote part of your office – score!
No word yet on cost, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see this phone retail in the plus $200 range – possibly as high as $300. I will definitely keep you updated once I get my mitts on one!
