New Polycom 335 brings HD voice to SMB’s

One of the biggest hurdles confronting the HD voice movement is no longer.

With this weekend’s announcement of the SoundPoint IP 335, Polycom has introduced an HD capable handset that your average SMB can afford. At a current street price of $149.99, the two line dual Ethernet IP 335 lowers many an SMB’s barrier for entry into the world of high definition calling.

Prior to the availability of the IP 335, many (including myself) often pointed to cost of the endpoint devices like VoIP phones as a considerable hurdle to prosumer adoption.

But with a street price under $150 USD, the IP 335 is in the sweet spot for an SMB VoIP phone. And it’s not just a low cost phone – the IP 335 has a solid back lit display, supports PoE and even has a microbrowser.

Oh and don’t forget that Polycom sound quality.

The IP 335 should also perk-up the ears of hosted VoIP service providers who should find the ability to offer a solid HD voice handset at an affordable price point a win-win.
