Hey, you're new around here aren't ya? Did you know you can get every post FREE in your EMAIL or via RSS? Oh and if you're a Twit like me you can follow me on Twitter HERE. Enjoy the post.
This started out as a comment on fellow Twitter connoisseur Steve Poland’s Advertising for Real Time Search (aka Twitter) post that when finally completed was worthy of a blog post.
The problem with “another Adwords” as Steve mentions is that Adwords is built on matching statics. Google’s entire search system is based on matching which heavily favors the old (longevity = credibility) statics.
A static matching system like Google won’t work well for Twitter as it’s content’s (or index) is not static, nor does it’s value to advertisers lay in history (at least not yet). It’s value lies in the here and now.
So in actuality the platform has to function in the exact opposite of how Adwords was constructed.

Vonage’s marketing spend is still out of control.
Every quarter since they went public their CEO has spoken to their marketing costs. Yet nothing much has changed.
As Doug Mohney reported, “marketing expense per customer [acquired] - has gone up to $309, despite reducing marketing costs by $3 million from the previous quarter.” At that price Vonage doesn’t turn a profit on a new customer until year two.

One of the greatest benefits of working at one of the fastest growing companies in America from basically the “beginning” getting to be involved with recruiting, interviewing and hiring top-notch talent.
Now, one of the drawbacks to working at one of the fastest growing companies in America, that also happens to be located in the Buffalo, NY area is that finding top notch talent can be challenging at times. That’s why I am reaching out to all of you to help me in my quest to find some top-notch sales professionals interested in some of the cherry positions that are currently opening up at VoIP Supply.
Here is why I think these are cherry opportunities:
- We are the market leader in the resale of VoIP hardware
- We have an awesome compensation plan, full benefits and a profit sharing plan
- We offer a six week training program for every new hire and DAILY sales and product trainings once this has been completed
- There is very little travel and most of the time customers are calling you to place an order
- We just invested heavily in new CRM and ERP platforms that will unlock the true potential of our huge customer base
- We were named one of the best place to work last year
- There is unlimited career advancement. Heck, I have had about 15 different jobs/roles in four years
- We have awesome people who make this a place you want to work
- We have a ton of fun (ping pong, wii, xbox, company trips, picnic’s etc)
- You get to work with me! (Ok, I had to throw that in there)
We prefer that everyone works out of our Buffalo, NY offices. I know, some people think it is cold and snows a lot. Today it was 57 degrees; that’s not too bad right?
If you are interested in the opportunity (or any of the other opportunities we currently have available), please visit our Jobs page or email your resume to our HR manager Peg Centola.

IPCameraSupply.com Has Everything You Need For IP Surveillance
Many have written me over the last month or so asking why my posting has been so sparse. Well, it is because I have been busy working on our newest initiative, IPCameraSupply.com. IPCameraSupply.com will focus on the resale of IP/CCTV surveillance and recording hardware including, IP Cameras, Digital Video Recorders, Network Video Recorders and CCTV systems. This is our first entrance into the IP/CCTV surveillance and recording marketplace and the third Internet Retailer we have launched over the past three years.
The most interesting thing about this move into the IP/CCTV security space is that it is very similar to what we have encountered in the telephony space. Like VoIP, IP surveillance is an evolution of legacy analog technology. Our Director of New Market Initiatives, Cory Andrews explains this well, “CCTV, as an analog, legacy ecosystem for surveillance, monitoring and recording, is on the same evolutionary path to IP that we are currently seeing in telephony. Users are migrating from proprietary, hardware based platforms to more open and flexible IP software based platforms. At the same time, the industry is enduring the same challenges in terms of protocol standardization and product interoperability. VoIP Supply is accustomed to operating within a marketplace that is in a constant state of flux. We intend to leverage our experience, operational efficiency and technical know-how with IPCameraSupply.com to help businesses with their surveillance, monitoring and recording needs.”

Mobile VoIP Poised For Staggering Growth in 2008
One of the brightest areas of the VoIP industry is mobile VoIP services. After disrupting the legacy land line telephony industry, IP communications entrepreneurs are now prepping for a huge push into the mobile industry mainstream in 2008; and consumers are more then ready for them. According to a Far Point Group survey, over 25% of the respondents stated that mobile VoIP was the mobile application that they are most likely to add in 2008.

Although the survey did not state whether mobile VoIP meant services such as truphone or technology such as Fixed Mobile Convergence, it is interesting that mobile VoIP is drawing this much interest. I guess wherever their is money to be saved, there will be companies and customers.
