Tiger Netcom GW0227 Telephone Adaptor

gw0227When taking a look at analog telephone adaptors one of my biggest pet peeves is the FXO port. I am a big proponent of service providers supporting and recommending telephone adaptors that have an FXO support. So, you can imagine that I was pleasantly surprised when I recently had the opportunity to demo the Tiger Netcom GW0227 analog telephone adaptor which features a single FXO port alongside a single FXS port.

GW0227 Telephone Adaptor Perfect for Residential Service Providers

This two port ata is designed specifically for users to take advantage of the FXO port, which performs intelligent routing. The FXO port can be used to make/receive calls to/from the PSTN from/to the phone attached to the FXS port, as well as bridge calls between VoIP and the PSTN. This gateway is ideal SOHO and small business users.I am constantly being asked by service providers to talk about the different options that exist for customer premise equipment, especially OEM or co-brandable units. For those of you with this request, the GW0227 from Tiger Netcom is exactly what you are looking for. With quantity discounts starting at just 100 units, and co-branding/pricate labeling starting at just 500 units the GW0227 is an excellent value. What surprised me the most about the unit was the excellent web GUI, unit construction, and robust feature set. Digium Releases Line of PCI Express Cards For Asterisk

Posted: June 14th, 2007 | Author: | Filed under: New VoIP Products | 3 Comments »

New Line Meets Demand For Popular PCIe Format

The latest release of a full line of PCI Express (PCIe) cards from Digium is a long time coming; for fans of Digium hardware and the company itself. With competitors such as Sangoma, Eicon, and Rhino already aggressively offering PCIe versions of their telephony cards for Asterisk, the company had fallen behind. With these new cards, though, Digium does not just join the PCIe telephony card space; they have put themselves back in the lead car.

Digium’s four- and two-port digital T1 and E1 PCIe interface cards, the TE420 and TE220, eliminate voltage and slot considerations associated with standard PCI cards. They are available immediately from the company and its authorized resellers. The TE420 will retail for $1,195 USD and the TE220 for $695 USD. Both are compatible with Digium’s existing VPMOCT series of hardware echo cancellation modules. Digium is scheduled to release analog and other cards for PCI Express in Q2 and Q3 2007.

CallBurner Call Recording Software For Skype

Posted: June 9th, 2007 | Author: | Filed under: New VoIP Products | No Comments »

CallBurner Allows Call Recording Without Microsoft Outlook

callburnerFrom the team behind Skylook, the Microsoft Outlook extension for Skype, that allows you to send, receive, forward, reply to, store, organize, search, follow-up, and archive, phone calls, PC-to-PC calls, voicemail, instant messages and SMS messages, we now have CallBurner. CallBurner is built upon the same technology platform that Skylook is, but is designed to be used without the need to have Microsoft Outlook installed, and is streamlined to just record calls.

That’s right. If you just want to record your Skype calls, then CallBurner is the solution for you. While this is not the first (or only) call recording solution for Skype, I have been using Skylook’s call recording functionality for over a year, and all I can say is it works remarkably well and is super easy to use.

CallBurner offers a 14 day free trial, while the paid version will set you pack $49.99 per computer. Not bad. So if you are looking for a call recording software for use with Skype, check out CallBurner; you will not be disappointed.

      BT developing Motion Control Laptop

Posted: May 3rd, 2007 | Author: | Filed under: New VoIP Products | No Comments »

Just saw an interesting post that BT was developing a motion control laptop/tablet pcs. The user can move the device back and forth and control the cursor. The release says

This revolutionary piece of technology is in the development stages, but is already being tested by engineers who are trying to find situations where this sort of control would be invaluable, this would include engineers, etc.

Am still trying to figure out where this would be useful. It is targeted for people who have so many things to do, they can use only one hand. Not very commonplace. Will keep an eye on this to see how it evolves.

PBX Prompts Offers Voice Over Talent for Phone, IVR, and Voicemail Systems

pbx promptsOn Wednesday, Sayers Media Group, a newly formed sister company of VoIP Supply launched PBX Prompts, a site that supplies voice over talent for phone, ivr, and voicemail systems. Our first products, Spanish and English voice prompt packages for Asterisk that are complete replacements, have been flying off our virtual shelves!

      The PBX Prompts Value Proposition

PBX Prompts true value is in the ability for a customer to have a complete set of prompts including all system prompts and more importantly matching custom menus and on hold commercials is something that would cost a company a lot more than a couple hundred dollars if done from scratch on a one time recording. This is something that many small medium business and solutions providers have needed, but until yesterday have not been able to find.

I would like to thank those that assisted us in getting the word out about PBX Prompts over the last few days and for all of the folks that have visited and purchased our initial product offerings. Look for more great product and service offerings from PBX Prompts over the coming weeks, and if you have not yet visited the site, please check it out!

      Microsoft Response Point VoIP Platform

Posted: April 5th, 2007 | Author: | Filed under: New VoIP Products | No Comments »

VoIP-enabled phone system software platform based on Windows XP Embedded

According to Microsoft the overall system is easy to set up and maintain, and provides a user-friendly management console for accomplishing tasks such as configuring voicemail, defining call-handling preferences, and creating call distribution lists.

Response Point implements a voice-activated user interface that, for example, allows users to reach anyone in their company directory or Outlook contact list simply by saying the name. Conversely, an “Automated Receptionist” answers incoming calls and routes them according to the caller’s voice instructions. Definitely something that any Windows based user would find useful.

Response Point will be out later this year in three models; D-Link DVX-2000, Quanta Syspine and Uniden Evolo. This is definitely an interesting play from Microsoft, but what is still to be seen and understood is how well this solution scales.
