Smith On VoIP Picked For Guy Kawasaki’s AllTop

I got an email last night from Guy Kawasaki, to inform me that I had been hand picked to be syndicated in AllTop.com’s new VoIP news section.

First off, I am a huge Guy Kawasaki fan, so I am honored that he and his team picked my site to be part of their VoIP section, right up there with the “big dogs” like TMCNet and Fierce VoIP. If you don’t know much about AllTop, is it a website, built for the less technologically savvy, that also one explore their passions by collecting stories from “all the top” sites on the web.

Yesterday’s Squawk Box; Craigslist vs VoIP

Yesterday pal Cory Andrews and I were invited on Alec Saunders Squawk Box show to discuss Craigslist’s widespread banning of VoIP and cellular numbers due to their use by spammers who abuse the Craiglist classifieds system. I had taken part in a couple of Squawkbox’s previously, but never as a “special invited guest.” Honestly, it was well worth my time as the conversation was as engaging as Andy Abramson’s famous bloggers dinners. If you are in any way involved with VoIP, IP or web based communications, you need to take the very least stop in once to see what it is all about…you will not be disappointed.

VoIP Insider Blog is Cranking!

A quick plug for the VoIP Insider blog.

The blogging team at VoIP Supply has been doing a great job with the blog, heck they are even surprising me.

They are cranking out great content every day (about 3 posts per day) and most of it is about aspects of VoIP that the “mainstream” is not covering.

So, if you are looking for new points of view on VoIP, stop on over or add our RSS feed to your reader.

Another Day, Another Dollar, Another List

Jimmy Atkinson over at VoIPNow.org has put together a pretty nice list of the Top 100 Telecommunications Blogs.

I was lucky enough to make the list (twice) for my work here at Smith On VoIP and for our corporate blog, VoIP Insider.

What is interesting is that I was listed in the “corporate” blog category whilst many of my peers who also hold high positions within their respective companies were in the general “VoIP” category.

I never fancied myself a suit, but maybe my friends are right and I have become too “white collar.”

One of the big initiatives this quarter for my marketing team is get more involved with starting and contributing to conversations with customers, partners, media and other industry types. After all, I have been blogging since 2005, on Facebook and LinkedIn since 2006, use YouTube everyday, listen to and participate on Podcasts weekly and gnereally I consider myself to be a “social media” kind of guy.
